Hummingbirds

Just a couple of hummingbirds I see cruising around our complex. Turns out getting decent pictures of them is pretty difficult. I wanted one where they were in flight, but I just wasn't fast enough. I'm gonna blame the camera but it was probably photographer error.

I found her right outside my front door, just sitting right above the entryway. I of course went to go get my camera immediately, and shot pictures for about 45 minutes. This was really the only one I was satisfied with. I really wanted one that you could see her hourglass. After all w/o that it's just another spider. She was getting pretty pissed at me around this shot, and I decided after about 70 shots at least one had to be good.

My cat's Fantasy

I'm practicing at extracting things, and compositing them into different images. I think the cat came out pretty good. I got a lot of green bounce coming back on both animals from the green screen. Tokina 12-24 test shots

I just got a Tokina 12-24 wide angle, and I have to say w/ just the minimal experience I have had w/ it. I really, really like it. It is surprisingly sharp, great colors, and pretty quick autofocus. No it is not "L" glass but for a sub $500 lens I don't really think you can beat it. More to come...

Thinking about this shot now, I should have shot it w/ a green gel, and then maybe a 1/2 cto, and a grid spot on his face. Instead I only used a 550 ex shot into an umbrella, through the stairs, and then adjusted the green channel in Ps.
